Introduction
Simian immunodeficiency virus, SIV, is a retrovirusthat is found in strains, having the HIV-1and HIV-2specific strains that infect humans. SIV strains may cause an AIDS-like immune deficiency known as SAIDS (simian acquired immunodeficiency syndrome) if they cross species boundaries. HIV-2 is more similar to SIV strains than to HIV-1, suggesting for the first time the simian origin of HIV. HIV-2 is derived from the SIV strain found in sooty mangabeys whereas HIV-1, the predominant virus found in humans, is derived from SIV strains infecting chimpanzees.
Description
SIV GAG Recombinant produced in E.Coli is a single, non-glycosylated polypeptide chain having a molecular mass of 55.0kDa. SIV GAG is purified by proprietary chromatographic technique.
Source
Physical Appearance
Sterile Filtered White lyophilized (freeze-dried) powder.
Formulation
Lyophilized with 1% glycerol.
Purity
Greater than 90.0% as determined by SDS-PAGE.
Solubility
It is recommended to reconstitute the lyophilized SIV GAG in sterile 18MΩ-cm H2O not less than 100µg/ml, which can then be further diluted to other aqueous solutions.
Stability
Lyophilized SIV GAG although stable at room temperature for 1 week, should be stored desiccated below -18°C. Upon reconstitution SIV GAG should be stored at 4°C between 2-7 days and for future use below -18°C.
For long-term storage it is recommended to add a carrier protein (0.1% HSA or BSA).
Please prevent freeze-thaw cycles.
Applications
Western Blotting, SDS Page
