Synonyms
Bone morphogenetic protein 10, BMP-10.
Introduction
Bone Morphogenetic protein-10 also known as BMP-10 takes an important part in the development of the embryonic heart by acting to stimulate and maintain cardiomyocyte proliferation. BMP-10 signals through numerous receptor complexes usually containing BMPR-1A, BMPR-1B, ALK1, ALK3, or ALK6. The interaction of BMP-10 with its specific receptors induces signaling initiated by the phosphorylation of SMAD transcription factors, including SMAD1, SMAD5, or SMAD8, but can also induce SMAD independent processes. BMP-10 is structurally related to BMP-9, and both can inhibit endothelial cell proliferation and migration.
Description
BMP10 Human Recombinant produced in HEK cells having a molecular weight of 26.2kDa.
BMP10 Human is purified by proprietary chromatographic techniques.
Source
Physical Appearance
Formulation
The BMP10 protein was lyophilized from 10mM Sodium Citrate, pH 2.7 and 75mM NaCl .
Solubility
It is recommended to reconstitute the lyophilized BMP10 in sterile 18MΩ-cm H2O not less than 100µg/ml, which can then be further diluted to other aqueous solutions.
Stability
Lyophilized BMP10 although stable at room temperature for 3 weeks, should be stored desiccated below -18°C. Upon reconstitution BMP10 should be stored at 4°C between 2-7 days and for future use below -18°C. For long term storage it is recommended to add a carrier protein (0.1% HSA or BSA). Please prevent freeze-thaw cycles.
Purity
Greater than 95.0% as determined by analysis by SDS-PAGE and HPLC analysis.

Biological Activity
The specific activity was determined by its ability to induce alkaline phosphatase production in the ATDC-5 cell line and is typically 4.0-6.0 ng/ml ED50.
