Introduction

Parainfluenza virus, PIV, contains a group of four distinct serotypes of single-stranded RNA viruses belonging to the paramyxovirus family and two subtypes (4a and 4b). Parainfluenza viruse is a negative-sense, single-stranded RNA viruse that possess fusion and hemagglutinin-neuraminidase glycoprotein "spikes" on their surface. The virion varies in size (average diameter between 150 and 300 nm) and shape.

Inactivation

Thimerosal and beta propiolactone treatment
This product has been treated in a manner consistent with methods of inactivation. Generally accepted good laboratory practices appropriate to microbiological/viral safe handling practices and techniques are required at work.

Opaque (non-clear) solution. Do not centrifuge! Mix thoroughly before use!

Formulation

The Parainfluenza type-3 solution contains STE, 0.09% sodium azide (NaN3) and 0.005% thimerosal. Do not centrifuge! Mix thoroughly before use!

Stability

Parainfluenza type-3 although stable 4°C for 4 weeks, Should be stored below -18°C.
Please prevent freeze-thaw cycles.
