Introduction
SARS Coronavirus is an enveloped virus containing three outer structural proteins, namely the membrane (M), envelope (E), and spike (S) proteins. Spike (S)-glycoprotein of the virus interacts with a cellular receptor and mediates membrane fusion to allow viral entry into susceptible target cells. Accordingly, S-protein plays an important role in virus infection cycle and is the primary target of neutralizing antibodies.
Description
The HEK293 derived recombinant protein contains the SARS Coronavirus Spike S1 Gycoprotein, amino acids 14-667 fused to His tag at C-terminal.
Source
HEK293
Purification Method
Purified by immobilized metal affinity chromatographic technique.
Physical Appearance
Lyophilized freezed dried powder.
Formulation
SARS Spike S1 glycoprotein is lyophilized from 1x PBS pH-7.4 + 5% trehalose.
Stability
SARS Spike S1 although stable at room temperature for 3 weeks, should be stored desiccated below -18°C. Upon reconstitution SARS Spike protein should be stored at 4°C between 2-7 days and for future use below -18°C.
For long term storage it is recommended to add a carrier protein (0.1% HSA or BSA).
Please prevent freeze-thaw cycles.
Purity
Protein is >95% pure as determined SDS-PAGE.
