Introduction

Recombinant Human Lipocalin-2 also called Neutrophil Gelatinase Associated Lipocalin (NGAL) belongs to a family of lipocans which include 25 proteins (including a1-microglobulin and b-lactoglobulin), which are characterized by their ability to bind small lipophilic substances in their hydrophobic core.
They thereby serve as transporters of substances like retinal, biliverdins & prostaglandins. There are indications that NGAL is involved in modulation of the inflammatory response and is found in the plasma of patients after stroke.

Description

Neutrophil Gelatinase Associated Lipocalin Human Recombinant is expressed in E. coli having a molecular weight of 28.1 kDa fused to an amino terminal hexahistidine tag.
The LCN2 is purified by proprietary chromatographic techniques.

Sterile Filtered clear solution.

Formulation

Lipocalin-2 is supplied in PBS, 50% glycerol.

Storage Conditions

Store at 4°C if entire vial will be used within 1-2 weeks.
Store, frozen at -20°C for longer periods of time.
Avoid multiple freeze-thaw cycles.

Application

LCN2 can be used directly as a positive control in Western blotting, ELISA, immunoprecipitation and other immunological experiments.
The biological activity of this product has not yet been tested.

Purity

Greater than 95% as determined by SDS-PAGE.
Single band on Western Blot.
