Introduction:
HBsAg is the surface antigen of the Hepatitis-B-Virus (HBV). The capsid of a virus has different surface proteins from the rest of the virus. The antigen is a protein that binds specifically on one of these surface proteins. It is commonly referred to as the Australian Antigen.

Physical Appearance:
Sterile Filtered clear solution.

Formulation:
Sterile Filtered solution containing 0.05M phosphate buffer & 0.2M NaCl, pH-7.2

Stability:
HBsAg protein Should be stored at 4°C between 3-4 weeks and for future use should be stored desiccated below -18°C.

Purity:
Greater than 98.0% as determined by SDS-PAGE.

Application:
HBsAg protein was tested in ELISA with anti-HBsAg antibodies.

Analysis:
Protein content was measured using Lowry method.
Lipid content was measured by total lipid.
Carbohydrate content was measured by Anthrone method.
Antigen content was measured by ELISA.
